2 new management packs for System Center Essentials 2007 and System Center Operations Manager 2007 have been released in the past week. The more important of these new releases, in my opinion, is the updated Backward Compatibility MP. Improvements to this MP should allow for better more trouble free running of management packs upgraded from MOM 2005. Also just released is the MP for Exchange Server 2007, a huge help for those of us moving forward with our Exchange migrations.

You can find the new management packs, along with all the other MPs, here:

Microsoft’s new version of Data Protection Manager 2007, a part of the System Center family, has been Released to Manufacturing. DPM 2007 is a great product which I have been beta testing for a few months now, and includes the ability to backup Exchange (including 2007), SQL Server and SharePoint (both MOSS and WSS version). For those of you looking for a backup and archival solution, you would be well advised to take a look at DPM now that it is RTM.

I have been dealing with having multiple Spaces on Live.com for quite some time now. I have this space which I have considered to be my personal space, and I had another for my position as President of the Microsoft IT Pros of Tulsa User Group which I treated more as my professional space.
I have finally come to the conclusion that it really isn’t possible to keep personal and professional separate when you spend as much time on the professional part as I do, so I have decided to move all of my content into this Space. I am hoping that this change makes it at least a bit easier to keep everything up to date.
I would love to hear any comments that you may have, so please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Tim

Hello all. I thought I would tell you all a little about myself to give you some perspective on what I write and why I write it.

I am an IT Professional who has been working to build Microsoft-centric networks in the SMB market since 1995. I am definitely a Microsoft apologist and I believe that using their products together to form a complete solution is the best way for small to medium businesses to go.

I do a lot of reading and writing reviews for a few different publishers, so I will share some of what I find (both good and bad) as I continue blogging also.

Lastly, I am the president of the local Microsoft IT Pro Association here in Tulsa, Oklahoma so I am sure to write about what is happening in the local area as well.

The large majority of what I cover will be Microsoft though since working with their products is what I do both as a job and as a passion.
